Photographer's FAQ's
- What is the Photographer's Contract ?
- Click here to view photographer's contract.
- What is the cost at which photos are licensed at www.indiapicture.in? Is there any minimum or maximum limit on the price of the photos available on the site?
- The basic cost structure is available on line (the customer will have to click on an image and say he wants to buy it and it will give the pricing according to usage).
- How does a photographer submit images on IndiaPicture, how much time does it take before the photo is available to the customers for purchase?
- There are two ways of submitting images:
- Digital Images: After the photographer has signed the contract with IndiaPicture an FTP link is provided to upload high-resolution images. These images are edited by the Photo Editor, after which they are cataloged. After color correcting the images are resized in 175 & 500 pixels (for comping images to be uploaded on the website). And 1, 3and 5 MB are uploaded on the secure folder from where the sales are made on payment by Credit Card.
- Slides/ Negatives: The photographer is required to drop the original slides/negatives which are duly edited by the Photo Editor after which these are scanned and catalogued.
- This process can take about 45 days.
- Is there any limit on the number of photos that a photographer can load on the site? Also does the photographer decide in which collection the photo gets displayed on the site or it is the agency, which decides that and accordingly links the photo to a specific collection?
- No, there is no limit on the number of images per photographer. In fact all what matters is quality. The decision to make collections, which are displayed on the Commercial / Editorial page, is with the respective Photo Editors and to some extent it also depandson the details provided by the photographer while submitting the images.
- What is the protection, which the site offer to the photos from being downloaded from the site, without their permission or knowledge? There is a provision that the images displayed could be saved by just right clicking and saving! Is there any plan to stop this?
- As an international policy we encourage our users to download the “click to enlarge image”, which is a 500-pixel image, saved at quality 5. This is helpful for the designers and creative people to do their layouts and have approvals, which in turn converts in to a sale. In all the major International Agencies there is never a restriction on downloading a low-resolution image.
- How does the photographer know that a customer has bought his photos? Whenever there is any search carried out by the prospective customer, what is the logic on which the images are displayed? Is there a possibility that there can be a priority set by which some specific images can be displayed whenever any such search is carried out?
- Once a photographer joins in. He is given a user name and a password that he can use to log, in to his account. The login section is in the top right corner of the website. This account has all the images of that particular photographer including a link called “my account”. Through this link the photographer is updated about his sales, till date and the payments due. All our billing will be happening online and as soon as a bill is generated for any particular image ID, which is unique to the photographer, his account will get updated automatically. The photographer can caption and categorize his images from this page. The image display is based on quality and of course, the keywords. i.e. the keywords are also ranked on priority starting from the first word, so it is important to write more apt keywords in the beginning and the less important later. The first twelve words are very critical to the search.
- Also can there be a separate section where in photos can be divided on the basis on the photographer names? So that if some customer wants to buy photos clicked by some specific photographer then he will have that choice or if he wants some specific photographer to click photos for him then he can accordingly instruct the site or your agency about it.
- If you go on to the advanced search option you can find this.
